Heart to Heart

My heart friend, my daily motivation, and one of my biggest inspiration’s sent me a book titled Journey to the Heart by Melody Beattie after my diagnosis. This book has been a huge force in her life for over 25 years and she felt I could use it the most right now. Boy was she right. It’s not a long read, but more daily thoughts or reflections to lift your heart, free your soul, and help you see the good around you or the bigger picture as I often call it.

Today’s message was titled “Heart Connections” which is so powerful for me considering Vicki and I have always referred to each other as “heart-friends”. Reading it made me realize how and why she came into my life like the positive and passionate force that she did those years ago and even more how it was all meant to be in part of this greater plan.

It also made me reflect on the countless others who have come into my life over the past few years (or came back into my life from years ago) or even more so the people who have come into my life and into my heart over the past few weeks. Most of you know who you are and know how my heart feels for you, but to name a few of my newest heart connections…. Jan, Sam, Jenn-Jennifer, Melanie, Tammy, Edith, Elena, Inez, and Jenni.

Here is an glimpse into today’s reflection: ”

“When she hugged and said good-bye, I told her not to cry-but she did anyway. So did I. “Call me whenever you want,” she said. I’ll be there for you.” I knew what she meant. She didn’t mean for me to call her on the phone, although that was okay too. She meant to call her in my heart, call her to me inspirit.

For a long time, our connections to people and places may have come from someplace other than our hearts. We may have been connected out of need, fear, unfinished business, or simply the unwillingness to leave–to know there was any other way to be connected. Or we may not have even felt particularly connected to the people around us.”
